Edmond Joyeusaz lives in Courmayeur at the foot of Monte Bianco, has been an alpine ski instructor and federal trainer for over 30 years. He belongs to the Alpine Guides’ Society of Courmayeur, which is the second oldest in the world.
He is a former national ski champion, having won the national cup in 1984, and was among the first hundred best skiers in the world for ten years, according to International Ski Federation (FIS) listings. In 1999, he became world champion in the alpine guides’ alpine ski races.
Since 1992, he has organized and accompanied alpine expeditions in the Himalayas and Karakorum. (Everest, K2, Cho Oyu). He succeeded in being the first in the world to ski down from the summit of Shisha Pangma. (8,047 m.). He was also the first to ski on the slopes of K2.
In Italy, he trains federal alpine skiing teams and takes mountaineers on the great classical routes in the Alps. For years, he has been a lover of flying and in the eighties was a pioneer paraglider, the first to fly tandem from the Grandes Jorasses (4,208 m.) His Baroudeur Ultralight allows tourists to discover and admire the beauties of Monte Bianco.
